DO VICTIM'S OF STALKER'S GET ENOUGH HELP?
Tue, 11/25/2008 - 00:05
Victim's of stalker's are told to ring the police and log all event information, police go and talk to person doing the stalking & advise victim to seek help from a solicitor about getting an injunction out on the predator. What you dont find out until you go to a solicitor is that unless there has been any violence or physical involvement it is hard to get an injunction out.
Have you been a victim of a stalker, & felt that the justice system has let you down/not done enough to help & left you feeling that until your stalker physically touches you or a member of your family there is nothing that can legally be done & so leaves you with two choices:
1. You can with your family live in fear of what your stalker may or maynot do next!
OR
2. You and your family take matters into your own hands.
However, if you decide to go with the 2nd choice you will need to stop & think about the concequences that may occur as a result your actions.
If your stalker reports assult on him you & your family members involved will get arrest & punished, so again your stalker has defeated you.

I was a victim of stalking
I was a victim of stalking about five years ago. I am a woman, and was stalked by a woman, I was 25 and she was 18. She was the new partner of my little boys dad (my ex partner).
She never threatened violence towards me or any of my family. Infact it was the total opposite. She used to tell me she loved me, and turn up at my house with gifts for me. She once even turned up in a brand new car she had bought for me. I never accepted any of the gifts, obviously.
She would sit outside my house for hours on end, and when I was out and about she would follow me everywhere.
I also recieved numerous phonecalls and text messages.
It took me about six months before I went to the police, because to be honest, I felt embarrassed, and didnt think they would take me seriously. But it was my best friend who urged me to go, and I finally did, enough was enough.
The police where fantastic. They came down to see me the very same day I made the complaint. They sat and listened to everything I had to say. They gave me lots of advice, and also urged me to contact victims support.
So I would strongly advise that anyone who is the victim of stalking should contact the police. I wish Id contacted them sooner, because they dealt with my case immediately, and fortunately my stalker was sectioned under the mental health act, and Ive never had any further problems from her.
