'My warning to mums... Breastfeeding left me infertile' er, no it didn't. Severely reducing calories and obsessive excersising did. Breastfeeding does not make you emaciated, this is ridiculous. This has to be one of the worst examples of scaremongering i have read in a magazine. This country has abysmal breastfeeding rates and totally inaccurate stories like this have the potential to put more women off. This reads like there is a direct link between infertility and breastfeeding, which there is not.

Back you all the way
I haven't read this article but am outright appalled that such a libellous statement be made across the front cover of a glossy, when it could inflict on the lives of so many mothers or children! I know the cover has to be eye-grabbing, but you've upset a lot of mums and breastfeeding supporters with this, and there ought to be some retractions made. How about next issue you tell people how I lost my baby tummy within a week or two of having both my daughters, DUE TO BREASTFEEDING! It is totally wrong that you have used such a false caption and I will do whatever I can to make sure you answer for this one. Lactational Amenhorrhea is actually just another bonus of breastfeeding, and it seems this is one extreme example of a mother who needed serious medical intervention with her weight issues - the breastfeeding was a factor in her grand scheme of losing as much weight as possible it seems, and breastfeeding alone is not accountable for her condition, SO HOW DARE YOU declare such a thing! I have yet to read the article - I don't wish to waste my money on lies so hopefully someone will paste a copy of it soon enough. Like I mentioned, I will back anyone fighting this all the way, and I personally think you should dedicate a good few pages of your next issue in clearing up this almighty cockup. I have plenty of positive breastfeeding stories you could use. Thank you.

"My warning to mums....Breastfeeding left me infertile"
Do not fall for this crap, Breastfeeding DOES NOT cause infertility! It is possible to get pregnant while breastfeeding if you really desire to do so. You just have to RESEARCH it for yourself - get EDUCATED and INFORMED on the topic and don't use this trashy headline as fact or truth!

Nice one Thats Life!
Nice one Thats Life! magazine...headline...Breastfeeding made me infertile! No, love it hasn't, the fact you say you had body issues for years before pregnancy and binge purged probably has though...Irresponsible journalism...again! This girl is blaming 'over the top' breastfeeding, though she has anorexia (diagnosed), was staving herself and excercising excessively, on the possibility she may not conceive again. This has made me really angry..rant over...*shakes head time and time again* She was diagnosed anorexic, God bless her, and woulda done the starving herself and excessive exercise thing anyway because of her condition. You are making out that breastfeeding makes you ill! I FF my other 2 and Millie is BF...I have always been fit and healthy throughout no matter how my children have been fed. It has NOTHING to do with BF

outragous
It is absolutely irresponsible for you to print that misleading headline. "...Breastfeeding left me infertile" It is misleading and completely FALSE. How disgusting to put such misinformation out there and potentially influence a mother's decision. Possibly hurting babies to make a buck?! FOR SHAME

Breast feeding does not cause infertility
I have just had to join this forum simply to say, as many already have, that this is one of the most disgusting pieces of journalism ever. In fact it is not journalism it is scaremongering and propaganda. You should be ashamed of yourselves for this headline. I will be petitioning and campaigning strongly for this to be retracted and ammended.

No reply from Editorial Team
I find it tragic that nobody from That's Life editorial team has had the decency to reply. I'm loosing faith in their journalistic integrety.

Breastfeeding

Apologies to all that no-one responded. There are so many messages on here it's hard to keep track.

That's Life! did realise this mistake and printed a retraction of the headline as inaccurate.

Thanks,
