Yes of course it should be brought back.It would do some of the youngsters good to get some good discipline and smart dress. And it would knock the cockyness out the cocky ones and make men of the timid ones. Then watch to see how many stay here or want to go back to thier own countries, if it was brought back.And it should be for 18 to 25 year olds. NS didnt do me any harm, I enjoyed it. And served in Cyprus for 22 months solid during the problems out there. this country is getting too dammed soft. Well we have a government of Scots ruling us ,come on England wake up.

Although i am to old now, and it wasn't about when i was young' I would have done it. But i can't help thinking if we still had it . HOW MANY ASYLUM SEEKERS WOULD COME HERE

i totally agree with you we would have no asylum seekers here if they knew they were not gonna get an easy ride. national service is a great idea but i think it should be from 16 years old.

I think that any youths aged between 18 & 21 should do national service it they don't yet have a career or are not at University or College. My brother lives in Finland where that still have National Service for every man aged between 18 & 21, they have to do at least one year between those ages. There is still crime in the country but it is more petty crime with out violence & stabbings, shootings are at a minimum. You feel generally safer over there & women & elders are treated with more respect. BRING BACK NATIONAL SERVICE!!!!!!

I wholeheartedly agree that National Service should be re-instated as it was many years ago. Too many times I hear the excuse that young people have nothing to do, that there is no where for them to go, and that they are bored. With National Service, they would have something to do and keep them occupied and give them a career building opportunity, and make something of themselves. It has got to be better than just loitering around the streets and getting into trouble. It'll also give them money in their pocket so that they don't have to go out and steal it etc., I imagine if that National Service was brought back, the crime figures would diminish alarmingly. Give the youths a purpose in life. National Service did'nt do my father or grandfather any harm, in fact it made them a better person and gave them a lifelong career.

Yes I agree that National service should be brought back, to hep with the youths of today, as I don't think locking them up or tagging them works. I also believe that it would improve the respect they would have for themselves & more over other people.

NATIONAL SERVICE
I agree that national service should be mandatory. Too many people think the world owes them a living and have to respect for either themselves or others. What is wrong with teaching young people the discipline and respect needed to survive appropriately in the UK, without stealing or maiming others to get what they want?

I love it when this is dragged out. Bring back National service - train the young to be military killers instead of the sloppy killers we have already. Then when you have them all trained up Army style you can send them to another country and let them murder in the name of Democracy. And we all know what war and democracy means - mass murder Killing for democracy is like shagging for virginity
