Story in issue 9 page 4
Hi everyone, im new to this forum. My name is Amanda and i am 29 years old. I felt i had to join up today after reading the heartbreaking story in issue 9 of Diane Redfern. I lost my first child 22nd september 2005, a little boy called Lewis. I was 19 weeks and 3 days pregnant. The reason i am writing this is because in the story Diane says that she doesnt have enough money to pay for a funeral for her son. When my son was cremated we were not charged for anything except the vicars time (£50) I was also under the impression when Lewis died that it would cost us a fortune to lay him to rest. I was then told that some funeral directors dont charge when the deceased is a baby. We used the Co-Operative funeral directors and they were very sympathetic and helpful. I know that the Co-Operative are a national branch of funeral directors and they do not charge for babies and infants. I hope with all my heart that Diane see's this message. I am a moderator for an online support forum set up by bereaved mothers. Preganacy and infant loss is still very much taboo, the internet was my lifeline when my whole world crashed down around my ears. I wouldnt be here today if it wasnt for the unconditional love and support i have received from my online friends, people who know how i feel because those people walk in these shoes too. I would also like to thank 'That's Life' for this site, its wonderful! Hope to get to know you all better. Amanda ( www.lifeafterloss.org.uk )

That story was so upsetting,
That story was so upsetting, i lost two babies one at 12 wks and one at 8weeks, i had a missed M/C and a M/C but thankfully i have two sons, It was horrible at the time for me but i can only imagine the pain she must be going through at 19wks - im going to visit that site amanda, thanks for posting it. It really is nice to find people who have been through similar situations and understand and its so hard for others to understand your loss. xx

my thoughts are with diane, issue 9 page 4.
hi, my name is michelle i'm 25 years old.
my thoughts go out to diane. when i was 15 years old i fell pregnant 3 months before my 16th birthday. i went into premature labour at 20 weeks and held on for 3 weeks, so was in labour for 3 weeks without anyone realising it was actually labour i was in, the hospital i was in at newcastle upon tyne just kept telling me and my mum that i was constipated and kept feeding me laxitives for 3 weeks. unfortunatley my little girl couldn't hold on any longer and i finally gave birth when i was only 23 weeks pregnant due to mistreated at the hospital, my baby girl would of been 9 years old in january. she weighed 9oz less then a 1lb. she was breathing up til they cut her cord but i thought they could of done more if they actually thought about monitoring me to see if it was labour, my mum kept telling them that i was in labour and after her having 7 kids i think she would of known if it was any ifferent. i gave birth on the 26th january 1999 and my baby was buried at the cost of nothing as the hospital chaplin organised everything for us. i have since gone onto have another 3 children who are all alive and heathy.
my heart really goes out to diane and hope she gets to read this as iknow exactly how she feels bout losing a loved one even thou they haven't really been part of lives in the living but we carried them for so long to realise this is the moment were going to have a baby to love and cherish for the rest of lives.
i got my babys hand prints and foot prints put onto a card, and she got blessed by the hospital chaplin.
thankyou for having the time to read this and hope everyone gets throu it like i have xxx

loosing babies
My heart goes out to all the mums and dads also who have lost children, no one should have to go through loosing a child. I have two healthy girls and count my blessings when i think what could have happened when i gave birth to my first. She is ten now but when i went into labour they left me too long then i had three failed attempts at forceps her head camr out but shoulder got stuck, so i had a choice dislocate her shoulder or push her back in and have c section. You can imagine baby and myself were highly distressed but a brilliant surgeon managed to deliver her quick enough to survive. This is a great web site for people who have lost children i cant even begin to know the grief these mums go through.
