I have been with [I've taken out name of bank for legal reasons - Ed] for 11years,and over the last 6years have bank charges amounting to £2000. They have been taking it from my benefits, ranging from £28 up till £80 a month for being over my overdraft by pence. Leaving me skint and struggling to feed my family, this isn't right and should't be allowed.I can imaging theres probably thousands of us in similar situation.Something should be done,I have been trying to get a refund of my bank charges without success YET.The battle continues.

Bank Charges
I managed to get back £800, two years ago. My sister succeeded in getting back £1400, we followed the letters from the Martyn Lewis site. What I do now is have two accounts - one that benefits get paid into and direct debits come out from so I know exactly what goes in and when, and what goes out, and when. The other one I pay a set amount into, and budget. A friend and myself 'share shopping' - we hit the local ASDA on Sunday Afternoons when they have the best reductions, and stock up with what we know we're going to be able to freeze, or use soon. We do the BOGOFs - she'll buy something and give me the free one, and I do the same for her. We bulk buy when it works out cheaper, and split the cost.
