It is never right for children to be all consumed with their body image. Fat or thin, children tend to slim as they get older if they have a problem with 'puppy fat' and thinner children also 'fill out' slightly with age. At such a young age it doesn't really matter.
Dont think it matters how big they are a child of six shouldnt be put on a diet. they will lose it if it is sorted out early and when they get a bit older
NO I AM SORRY BUT I THINK IT IS TOTALLY WRONG FOR A CHILD THIS AGE TO HAVE A DIET BOOK, IT IS SETTING THE WRONG EXAMPLE AND IF THE CHILD IS A LITTLE CHUBBY THEN MORE EXERICE COULD HELP, ENCOURAGE THE CHILD TO DO MORE PHYSICAL THINGS INSTEAD OF SITTING IN FRONT OF A GAMES CONSOLE, TOO MANY CHILDREN ARE NOW DOING THIS IS INSTEAD OF INTERACTING IN OUTDOOR GAMES AND OTHER CHILDREN.
NO IT IS NOT RIGHT.PARENTS SHOULD TEACH THE CHILD ON HEALTHY EATING.THERE ARE LOTS OF COOK BOOKS OUT ON THE MARKET THAT ARE HEALTHY EATING RECIPES, EVEN DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE CAKES CAN BE MADE HEALTHY
If its for educating on healthy eating then yes i think its a good thing. Children should learn what foods are good and in which ways.
If its for calorie counting etc. Then definatly not. Children will eat what you give them and learn from the adults around them.
not unless there is a genuine health reason for one. a child should have a healthy diet and that is down to the parent to introduce.
i have a 9 month old and she will eat everything from mushrooms to raw peppers the key was to introduce her to a variety of flavours from the start and so far the only thing she turns her nose up at is liver ( cant blame her) x
If Parents cook healthy meals for their children and make sure they get anough exercise and not sit playing on game boxes they would not need to go on diets
An appropriate diet for adults may not be as good for young children. Children need an excess input than output through exercise so a positive balance will help them grow. Adults have mostly stopped growing and so their need for balance.
The main thing [for both the very young and very old] is to provide appetizing, and nicely presented, food so that this food gets eaten and not left on the plate.
Having a journal could help identify what is liked or not. So it could be a helpful guide but not to be blindly followed.
Not at all. For starters they are too young to understand it, and it is up to the parent to provide a well balanced diet for them, and to teach them about what is healthy and what is not. It sounds like the parent is passing the responsibility to the child, and expecting the child to decide what they should eat to lose weight.
A 6-year-old should only be put on a diet if instructed by a doctor for health reasons and I dont think they would give the diet book to the child not the parent. Do you?
it is up to parents to provide healthy diet but when daddy gives sweets plentiful mummy becomes bad guy so a book for kids that will be understood reason why sweets and junk food bad for you if eaten regulary im all for that sort of support
